Vidar Flooring American White Oak 6" Engineered Hardwood

Vidar Flooring American White Oak 6" is white oak engineered hardwood, real wood over a stable core, compatible with radiant heat. See it at our Mississauga and Barrie showrooms, or browse online.

The reason engineered hardwood exists is simple. Concrete slabs, basements, and radiant heat will destroy a solid floor, and engineered was built to handle all three.

In simple terms: Vidar Flooring American White Oak 6" is engineered hardwood, which means a real white oak surface over a cross-layered core. You get the look of solid wood with the stability to put it over concrete or in a basement. Squarefoot Flooring stocks it and installs it in-house.

Decision line: choose Vidar American White Oak 6" when you want genuine hardwood that will stay flat over a slab or in a basement.

The detail behind that: It is real white oak, a cooler, more contemporary cast with a tighter grain than red oak, and a touch harder. On the Janka scale White Oak runs about 1360, about as hard as oak, fine for daily household use. The wear layer is 2mm of real wood, enough for one careful refinish down the road. The core is the quiet workhorse here. A cross-layered engineered core resists the expansion and contraction that makes solid wood cup, gap, or lift. That is why it can go over in-floor radiant heat, places solid hardwood cannot. Planks run 6 inches wide, a wide-plank look that shows off the grain. A low-sheen matte finish keeps dust and footprints from showing. The planks have micro-bevelled edges, which frame each board and hide the slight height differences that come with real wood. Colours in the range include Naked Oak, Silver Stone, Macaroon, Toffee Crunch, and Wheat Berry.

We install Vidar Flooring American White Oak 6" with our own team, not subcontractors, across the GTA, Barrie, and Simcoe County. The method depends on the subfloor, glued to concrete, floated, or nailed to plywood, and a flat, dry base matters more than anything. Read how we work on the hardwood installation page, or see our projects.

A small sample never shows how Vidar American White Oak 6" moves across a whole room. See it at our Mississauga or Barrie showroom, contact us about availability, and compare materials on the hardwood vs vinyl guide. It is radiant-rated, so it pairs with the in-floor heating membranes we stock for in-floor heating projects. For the full Vidar Flooring range, see our Vidar Flooring page.
