Get a Vinyl QuoteThe floor that fails first in a Mississauga house is almost never in the living room. It is the kitchen where a dishwasher leaked, the basement where the slab breathes moisture all winter, the front entry that takes slush from November to March. Hardwood and laminate both have a limit in those rooms. Vinyl does not, and that is why vinyl plank has become the most asked-for floor at our Dundas St E store.
The catch is that "vinyl" covers four different constructions, and the right one depends on the room, the subfloor and the traffic. This page walks through the formats the way we would on the floor of the store, so you can narrow it down before you visit.
The four vinyl formats we stock
SPC rigid core vinyl plank
SPC (stone polymer core) is the firmest click vinyl and the biggest part of our vinyl wall. The dense core resists dents, stays flat through temperature swings and bridges small subfloor imperfections, which matters over the older subfloors common in Mississauga's 1970s and 1980s housing stock. It clicks together as a floating floor, usually in 5 mm to 7 mm thicknesses with wear layers from 12 mil for residential up to 20 and 22 mil for heavy traffic.
Decision line: the default choice for most rooms in a house, and the safest answer for a basement over concrete.
WPC vinyl plank
WPC (wood polymer core) uses a thicker, slightly cushioned core, so it is warmer and quieter underfoot than SPC and more forgiving to stand on. It is still fully waterproof and still clicks together as a floating floor. The trade is a little less dent resistance under heavy furniture.
Decision line: pick WPC for main living areas and bedrooms where comfort and quiet matter more than maximum hardness.
Glue down vinyl (dry back)
Glue down vinyl bonds fully to the subfloor, giving a thin, permanent surface with no movement and no hollow sound. It needs a flat, properly prepared subfloor, and in return it handles rolling loads and constant traffic better than any floating floor, which is why it is the standard for offices, retail and restaurants.
Decision line: the commercial answer, and a strong choice for rentals where a permanent low-profile floor is the goal.
Sheet vinyl and vinyl tile
Sheet vinyl covers a room with almost no seams, which makes it practical for laundry rooms and budget renovations. Vinyl tiles give a stone or ceramic look in the same waterproof material, without the cold surface or the grout maintenance.
Decision line: the value options, best where seams or grout would be the problem.
In simple terms: SPC vinyl plank is the right answer for most Mississauga homes, basements included. Step to WPC where you want a quieter, warmer floor, glue down for commercial spaces and rentals, and sheet or tile where budget leads. Every one of them is waterproof.
How to judge a vinyl plank before you buy it
Two numbers do most of the work. The wear layer is the clear coat that takes the day-to-day abrasion: 12 mil handles a normal household, 20 mil and 22 mil handle dogs, kids and light commercial traffic, and that is where we steer busy families. The overall thickness, typically 5 mm to 7 mm in a quality plank, affects how solid the floor feels and how well it bridges subfloor flaws.
Beyond the numbers, look at the surface in person. Embossed-in-register texturing follows the printed grain, so the plank feels like the wood it shows. Bevelled edges define each board the way real hardwood does. These are the details that separate a convincing luxury vinyl plank from an obvious imitation, and they are exactly what you can check under real lighting at the store, which no product photo settles.
Decision line: bring your room measurements; we will match wear layer and thickness to how each room actually gets used.
Vinyl brands on display in Mississauga
Our vinyl wall runs from premium rigid core lines to hard-working value planks: COREtec Floors, MSI Surfaces, Fuzion Flooring, Beaulieu Canada, Shaw Floors, Next Floor, Richmond Flooring, Grandeur Flooring, Twelve Oaks and NAF Flooring, among others.
The honest truth about vinyl is that the construction matters more than the logo. Two SPC planks with the same core, wear layer and locking system perform the same way, so we will tell you plainly when a mid-priced line gives you everything the premium one does for your specific room.
Where vinyl earns its place in a Mississauga home
Basements: concrete slabs move moisture year round. SPC over a proper underlay handles it without the swelling risk laminate carries. This is the room where vinyl has no real competition.
Kitchens and entries: spills, slush and dropped pots are daily events. A 20 mil wear layer shrugs them off, and the floor wipes clean.
Condos: most Mississauga condo boards require an acoustic underlay with a rated sound score. We stock compliant underlays and can match one to your building's requirement before installation.
Rentals and commercial space: glue down vinyl takes the abuse, and single damaged planks can be replaced without lifting the room. For offices and retail, it is the floor we quote most.

Why Mississauga homeowners buy their vinyl here
Our own installation crews. The people who install your floor work for us, not a subcontractor pool. The same team handles subfloor prep, acoustic underlay, transitions and stairs, and stands behind the workmanship.
See it under real lighting. Vinyl patterns repeat, and photos hide it. At 700 Dundas St E you can lay full planks side by side and judge the texture and repeat with your own eyes before committing.
Straight answers on the quote. Bring measurements or a floor plan and we will spec the plank, the underlay and the installation as one number, with the wear layer and thickness written on it.
Vinyl flooring questions we hear in the store
Is vinyl plank flooring really waterproof?
Yes. SPC, WPC, glue down and sheet vinyl are all waterproof as materials, which is why they belong in kitchens, basements, laundries and entries. What still matters is the installation: sealed perimeters and proper subfloor prep keep water from getting beneath the floor, and that is part of what our crews are trained on.
What wear layer do I need?
For a typical household, 12 mil holds up well. For dogs, kids or heavy daily traffic, step up to 20 mil or 22 mil; the same range covers light commercial use. The wear layer, not the overall thickness, is what determines scratch resistance.
SPC or WPC, which should I choose?
SPC is firmer and more dent resistant, the default for basements, kitchens and busy rooms. WPC is warmer, quieter and softer underfoot, better for living rooms and bedrooms. Both are waterproof click floors, so the choice is about feel and traffic, not water.
Can vinyl plank go over my existing floor?
Usually, yes. Click vinyl floats over most hard, flat existing floors including tile and old hardwood, which saves demolition. Glue down vinyl needs the existing floor removed and the subfloor prepared flat. We confirm which applies at the quote stage.
Do you install vinyl flooring in condos?
Yes, across Mississauga, Toronto and the surrounding areas. We match an acoustic underlay to your condo board's sound requirement, supply the documentation, and our in-house crews handle the installation.
