Vidar Flooring American Hickory Engineered Hardwood

Vidar Flooring American Hickory is hickory engineered hardwood, real wood over a stable core. See it at our Mississauga and Barrie showrooms, or browse online.

There is a lot of marketing noise around engineered hardwood, but it comes down to two things that matter: how thick the real-wood layer is, and how stable the core is.

In simple terms: Vidar Flooring American Hickory is a real-wood floor, a layer of genuine hickory bonded to a stable engineered core. It looks and feels like solid hardwood, but the core lets it handle concrete, basements, and humidity that would move a solid plank. We carry it and our own crew installs it.

It is real hickory, dramatic grain, natural colour variation, and the hardest common domestic species. On the Janka scale Hickory runs about 1820, harder than oak and a strong choice for high-traffic rooms. Underneath the wood is a dimensionally stable engineered core, and that is the whole point: it keeps the floor flat where a solid board would react to the seasons. Planks run 9 inches wide, a wide-plank look that shows off the grain. A low-sheen matte finish keeps dust and footprints from showing. The planks have micro-bevelled edges, which frame each board and hide the slight height differences that come with real wood. It is a Select and Better grade, kept clean and consistent in colour and grain. Colours in the range include Sicilia, and Seashell.

Decision line: choose Vidar American Hickory when you want genuine hardwood that will stay flat over a slab or in a basement.

Our installers handle Vidar Flooring American Hickory from subfloor moisture testing to the final trim, across the GTA, Barrie, and Simcoe County, with no subcontractors. Over concrete we typically glue down, over plywood we nail or float, and the prep is where the job is won. See the hardwood installation page.

A small sample never shows how Vidar American Hickory moves across a whole room. See it at our Mississauga or Barrie showroom, contact us about availability, and compare materials on the hardwood vs vinyl guide. See more Vidar Flooring options on our Vidar Flooring page.
