Vidar Flooring American Black Walnut Engineered Hardwood

Vidar Flooring American Black Walnut is black walnut engineered hardwood, real wood over a stable core, compatible with radiant heat, with a 3mm wear layer you can refinish. See it at our Mississauga and Barrie showrooms, or browse online.

Engineered hardwood gets dismissed as the budget option, which misses the point: it is real wood built to go where a solid plank fails.

In simple terms: Vidar Flooring American Black Walnut pairs a real black walnut top layer with an engineered core built for stability. It gives you a genuine wood floor that can go where solid planks cannot, and we carry and install it ourselves.

It is real black walnut, a deep chocolate tone with a soft, formal character. On the Janka scale Black Walnut runs about 1010, below oak, so it favours lower-traffic, formal spaces. It carries a 3mm dry-sawn wear layer, real sawn wood you can refinish like solid hardwood at least once over its life. Underneath the wood is a multi-ply core, and that is the whole point: it keeps the floor flat where a solid board would react to the seasons. That is why it can go over in-floor radiant heat, places solid hardwood cannot. Widths run from 6 to 11.6667 inches, so you can keep it classic or go wide-plank and modern. A low-sheen matte finish keeps dust and footprints from showing. Micro-bevelled edges give each plank a defined line and absorb the seasonal movement of a wood floor. Colours in the range include Naked, Natural, Chocolate, and Provence.

Decision line: with a thick wear layer, Vidar American Black Walnut behaves like solid hardwood you can refinish, but goes in basements and over radiant heat where solid cannot. It is the choice when you want one floor to do both.

Our installers handle Vidar Flooring American Black Walnut from subfloor moisture testing to the final trim, across the GTA, Barrie, and Simcoe County, with no subcontractors. Over concrete we typically glue down, over plywood we nail or float, and the prep is where the job is won. See the hardwood installation page.

A small sample never shows how Vidar American Black Walnut moves across a whole room. See it at our Mississauga or Barrie showroom, contact us about availability, and compare materials on the hardwood vs vinyl guide. It is radiant-rated, so it pairs with the in-floor heating membranes we stock for in-floor heating projects. See more Vidar Flooring options on our Vidar Flooring page.
