Shaw Floors Empire Oak Engineered Hardwood
Ask any installer what separates good engineered hardwood from the rest and they will point at the wear layer, not the price tag.
In simple terms: Shaw Floors Empire Oak pairs a real oak top layer with an engineered core built for stability. It gives you a genuine wood floor that can go where solid planks cannot, and we carry and install it ourselves.
It is real oak, a warm, familiar grain that takes stain well and suits almost any room. The real advantage is underneath: a dimensionally stable engineered core that stays flat through Ontario's dry winters and humid summers, where a solid plank would cup or gap. That is why it can go on, above, or below grade, including basements and concrete slabs, and over in-floor radiant heat, places solid hardwood cannot. The surface is wire-brushed, which lifts the grain for texture and quietly hides everyday wear. Micro-bevelled edges give each plank a defined line and absorb the seasonal movement of a wood floor. Colours in the range include Carnegie, Ashlee Grey, Morgan, Cabot, and Astor.
Decision line: choose Empire Oak when you want genuine hardwood that will stay flat over a slab or in a basement.
Installation is in-house and never subcontracted, across the Toronto and Mississauga area up to Barrie and Simcoe County. Engineered board can be glued over a slab, floated, or nailed down, so we assess the subfloor, test for moisture, and pick the right method. Browse our projects or the hardwood installation page.
It is worth seeing Empire Oak in person before deciding. Visit either showroom, contact us to confirm current stock, and see more in the engineered hardwood range. Since it works over radiant heat, it goes well with the in-floor heating membranes we carry. For the full Shaw Floors range, see our Shaw Floors page.
