Shaw Floors Natural Timbers Smooth Engineered Hardwood
Most people choose engineered hardwood for the look and keep it for the stability, the part you only appreciate after a few Ontario winters.
In simple terms: Shaw Floors Natural Timbers Smooth is engineered hardwood, which means a real pecan surface over a cross-layered core. You get the look of solid wood with the stability to put it over concrete or in a basement. Squarefoot Flooring stocks it and installs it in-house.
Decision line: choose Natural Timbers Smooth when you want genuine hardwood that will stay flat over a slab or in a basement.
The detail behind that: It is real pecan, warm tones with strong grain character, closely related to hickory. On the Janka scale Pecan runs about 1820, harder than oak and a strong choice for high-traffic rooms. Underneath the wood is a cross-layered engineered core, and that is the whole point: it keeps the floor flat where a solid board would react to the seasons. Planks run 8.66 inches wide, a wide-plank look that shows off the grain. The surface is smooth, a clean and contemporary finish. The planks have micro-bevelled edges, which frame each board and hide the slight height differences that come with real wood.
Our installers handle Shaw Floors Natural Timbers Smooth from subfloor moisture testing to the final trim, across the GTA, Barrie, and Simcoe County, with no subcontractors. Over concrete we typically glue down, over plywood we nail or float, and the prep is where the job is won. See the hardwood installation page.
We keep Natural Timbers Smooth at both showrooms, where the grain, sheen, and colour read properly. Contact us about availability, or start from our Toronto and Barrie hardwood pages. See more Shaw Floors options on our Shaw Floors page.
