A flat, dry subfloor is essential. The 20 mil wear layer puts it in heavy-residential, light-commercial territory, which is where vinyl earns its keep in a family home. On vinyl, that mil number is the best single predictor of how long the floor keeps looking new, more than thickness or price. It carries an IIC rating around 69 and an STC around 64, so it clears the sound-transfer rules most GTA condo boards set, a common sticking point in high-rises. Tiles come in a 12 by 24 inch format.
