Grandeur Flooring Hickory Engineered Hardwood
Real wood on top, a stable core underneath: that combination is why engineered hardwood ends up in more Toronto condos and finished basements than solid ever could.
In simple terms: Grandeur Flooring Hickory is real hickory over a multi-ply core. The surface is the same wood you would get in a solid floor; the core is what keeps it flat over a slab, in a basement, or through the seasons. We stock it and our crew installs it.
It is real hickory, dramatic grain, natural colour variation, and the hardest common domestic species. Hickory sits around 1820 on the Janka hardness scale, well above the red oak benchmark, so it shrugs off busy traffic. The wear layer is 2mm of real wood, enough for one careful refinish down the road. The real advantage is underneath: a dimensionally stable engineered core that stays flat through Ontario's dry winters and humid summers, where a solid plank would cup or gap. A handscraped surface gives it a worn, characterful look. It carries a 35-year residential warranty. Colours in the range include Artisan Engineered Coyote, Artisan Engineered Eagle, Artisan Engineered Harvest, Artisan Engineered Natural, and Artisan Engineered Owl.
Decision line: Grandeur Hickory is the practical middle ground, real wood with the stability to go over concrete, into basements, and across the seasons.
Installation is in-house and never subcontracted, across the Toronto and Mississauga area up to Barrie and Simcoe County. Engineered board can be glued over a slab, floated, or nailed down, so we assess the subfloor, test for moisture, and pick the right method. Browse our projects or the hardwood installation page.
Wood reads differently across a full floor than in a sample chip, so it is worth seeing Grandeur Hickory under room light at either showroom. Contact us to check availability, or browse the full hardwood flooring range. See more Grandeur Flooring options on our Grandeur Flooring page.
