Anderson Tuftex European Ash Herringbone Engineered Hardwood
Engineered hardwood gets dismissed as the budget option, which misses the point: it is real wood built to go where a solid plank fails.
In simple terms: Anderson Tuftex European Ash Herringbone is a real-wood floor, a layer of genuine ash bonded to a stable engineered core. It looks and feels like solid hardwood, but the core lets it handle concrete, basements, and humidity that would move a solid plank. We carry it and our own crew installs it.
Decision line: with a thick wear layer, European Ash Herringbone behaves like solid hardwood you can refinish, but goes in basements and over radiant heat where solid cannot. It is the choice when you want one floor to do both.
The detail behind that: It is real ash, a pale, straight grain with a clean, modern look. On the Janka scale Ash runs about 1320, about as hard as oak, fine for daily household use. Its wear layer is a thick 4mm of real wood, enough to sand and refinish more than once, just like a solid floor. Stability comes from the build: a cross-layered engineered core that takes the seasonal swing in stride instead of telegraphing it into the floor. That is why it can go on, above, or below grade, including basements and concrete slabs, and over in-floor radiant heat, places solid hardwood cannot. The surface is wire-brushed, which lifts the grain for texture and quietly hides everyday wear. Micro-bevelled edges define each plank and disguise the small seasonal movement every wood floor has.
Our installers handle Anderson Tuftex European Ash Herringbone from subfloor moisture testing to the final trim, across the GTA, Barrie, and Simcoe County, with no subcontractors. Over concrete we typically glue down, over plywood we nail or float, and the prep is where the job is won. See the hardwood installation page.
It is worth seeing European Ash Herringbone in person before deciding. Visit either showroom, contact us to confirm current stock, and see more in the engineered hardwood range. Since it works over radiant heat, it goes well with the in-floor heating membranes we carry. See more Anderson Tuftex options on our Anderson Tuftex page.
