Anderson Tuftex Confection Engineered Hardwood
There is a lot of marketing noise around engineered hardwood, but it comes down to two things that matter: how thick the real-wood layer is, and how stable the core is.
In simple terms: Anderson Tuftex Confection is a real-wood floor, a layer of genuine white oak bonded to a stable engineered core. It looks and feels like solid hardwood, but the core lets it handle concrete, basements, and humidity that would move a solid plank. We carry it and our own crew installs it.
Decision line: choose Confection when you want genuine hardwood that will stay flat over a slab or in a basement.
The detail behind that: It is real white oak, a cooler, more contemporary cast with a tighter grain than red oak, and a touch harder. White Oak sits around 1360 on the Janka hardness scale, right at the oak benchmark for everyday durability. The wear layer is 2mm of real wood, enough for one careful refinish down the road. What you are paying for is stability. A dimensionally stable engineered core holds its shape across the seasonal humidity swing that moves solid wood. That is why it can go on, above, or below grade, including basements and concrete slabs, and over in-floor radiant heat, places solid hardwood cannot. The surface is wire-brushed, which lifts the grain for texture and quietly hides everyday wear. Micro-bevelled edges give each plank a defined line and absorb the seasonal movement of a wood floor.
Engineered hardwood gives you options solid wood does not: glue-down over concrete, floating, or nail-down over plywood. Our own crew installs Anderson Tuftex Confection across the Toronto and Mississauga area, Barrie, and Simcoe County, never subcontracted, and we flatten and moisture-test the subfloor first, finish the trim, and handle matching stairs. See our hardwood installation page.
A small sample never shows how Confection moves across a whole room. See it at our Mississauga or Barrie showroom, contact us about availability, and compare materials on the hardwood vs vinyl guide. Since it works over radiant heat, it goes well with the in-floor heating membranes we carry. For the full Anderson Tuftex range, see our Anderson Tuftex page.
