Why NAF Maple Stands Out

Engineered hardwood gets dismissed as the budget option, which misses the point: it is real wood built to go where a solid plank fails.

In simple terms: Naf Flooring Maple is engineered hardwood, which means a real maple surface over a cross-layered core. You get the look of solid wood with the stability to put it over concrete or in a basement. Squarefoot Flooring stocks it and installs it in-house.

It is real maple, a fine, even grain that reads light and clean, at home in contemporary spaces. On the Janka scale Maple runs about 1450, harder than oak and a strong choice for high-traffic rooms. It uses a 1.5mm wear layer, built to be lived on rather than resanded, so it is best treated as a durable finished floor. Underneath the wood is a cross-layered engineered core, and that is the whole point: it keeps the floor flat where a solid board would react to the seasons. Planks run 6 1/2 inches wide, a wide-plank look that shows off the grain. A handscraped surface gives it a worn, characterful look. Micro-bevelled edges give each plank a defined line and absorb the seasonal movement of a wood floor. It carries a 30-year residential warranty.

Decision line: choose NAF Maple for the look and the stability, not for repeated sanding; the wear layer is built to be lived on.

We install Naf Flooring Maple with our own team, not subcontractors, across the GTA, Barrie, and Simcoe County. The method depends on the subfloor, glued to concrete, floated, or nailed to plywood, and a flat, dry base matters more than anything. Read how we work on the hardwood installation page, or see our projects.

Wood reads differently across a full floor than in a sample chip, so it is worth seeing NAF Maple under room light at either store. Contact us to check availability, or browse the full hardwood flooring range. For the full Naf Flooring range, see our Naf Flooring page.

Still Have Questions?

Quick answers about this collection before you buy.

What is Naf Flooring Maple?
Naf Flooring Maple is engineered hardwood, a layer of real maple bonded to a stable multi-ply core. It looks and sands like solid wood but stays flat over concrete, in basements, and through Ontario's humidity. Squarefoot Flooring carries it and installs it with our own crew.
Can NAF Maple be sanded and refinished?
NAF Maple uses a 1.5mm wear layer, so it is best treated as a durable finished floor rather than one you sand back. A light screen-and-recoat is usually the right refresh.
How hard is NAF Maple, and will it dent?
The maple surface sits around 1450 on the Janka hardness scale, well above the red oak benchmark of 1290, so it resists dents and busy traffic well. No wood floor is dent-proof, but the wear layer and finish do most of the work.
Where can I see NAF Maple near me?
You can see Naf Flooring Maple at both Squarefoot Flooring showrooms, in Mississauga at 700 Dundas St E, Unit 3-4, and in Barrie at 112 Saunders Rd, Units 1-4. Grain and finish read differently across a full floor, so we recommend seeing a sample first.
