In simple terms: Grandeur Flooring Inov 8 is a rigid Evolution vinyl plank in a long, wide format for the most convincing wood look, fully waterproof. We carry it and install it in-house.

The core is stone polymer composite, hard, rigid and stable, so the plank stays flat over uneven subfloors and clicks together as a floating floor. The wear layer is 20 mil, heavy-residential and light-commercial grade, and on vinyl that mil number is the best single predictor of how long the floor keeps looking new. Planks run up to 7 inches wide and 60 inches long, the longer board that gives the wood look its continuity. It is FloorScore and GREENGUARD certified. Colours in the range include Flowerpot Island, Lion's Head, Manitoulin, Mermaid's Cove, and Peninsula.

It is 100% waterproof rather than only water-resistant, so full baths, laundry rooms, kitchens and basements are all fair game, and it carries an IIC around 72 and an STC around 70 plus an attached acoustic pad for condo sound rules.
