For a condo on a high floor, the floor you choose is not only a look decision, it is a sound decision, because the board upstairs has to satisfy the building before it satisfies you.
In simple terms: Grandeur Flooring Continental is a rigid Evolution vinyl plank engineered to clear condo sound rules while staying fully waterproof. Squarefoot Flooring carries it and our own crew installs it.
Continental is built on a stone polymer composite core, hard and rigid, so it stays flat over an uneven subfloor and ignores the temperature swings that move cheaper vinyl. It clicks together as a floating floor. The wear layer is 20 mil, which puts it in heavy-residential and light-commercial territory, and on vinyl that mil figure predicts longevity better than overall thickness does. Planks run up to 7 inches wide and 60 inches long. It is FloorScore and GREENGUARD certified for indoor air quality. Colours in the range include Dakota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan.
What sets Continental apart is the acoustics. With an IIC around 72 and an STC around 70 plus an attached acoustic pad, it meets the sound-transfer ratings most Toronto and Mississauga condo boards require before they approve a hard floor, which is often the sticking point in a high-rise. Being 100% waterproof, it also handles kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements without concern.
Decision line: Continental is the pick for a condo with a sound rating to satisfy, and for basements, kitchens and floors over concrete where stability and waterproofing lead the list.
We install Grandeur Flooring Continental with our own team, never subcontracted, across the GTA, Barrie and Simcoe County. It floats over most existing hard floors once the base is flat and dry. See the vinyl installation page or our projects.
Vinyl reads differently across a full floor than in a sample, so it is worth seeing Continental in person at either store. Contact us for current stock, browse the full vinyl plank range, or see the Grandeur Flooring page.
