Why Origins Oak Stands Out

Ask any installer what separates good hardwood from the rest and they will point at the wear layer and the core, not the price tag.

In simple terms: Canadian Standard Origins Oak is real plank over an engineered core, the construction that stays flat over concrete, in basements and through Ontario's seasons. We stock it and install it with our own crews.

The boards run 1/2", 3/4" and 12.7 thick, in 6-1/2" x Random up to 72", 7-1/2" x Random Length and 7-1/2" x Random up to 83", with a 1.2mm and 1.4mm wear veneer, finished wire brushed and wire brushed|hand scraped. Colourways include Origins Grayson, Origins Kinsey, Origins Sedrick, Origins Irish Tea and Origins Planetary Silver. Warranty coverage is 25 years and 25 Year Residential.

Decision line: choose Origins Oak where you want real wood that can go over concrete and below grade; thicker veneers can be refinished later, which we do on site.

Hardwood rewards proper acclimatization and subfloor prep, which our employed crews handle as part of every quote; see the hardwood installation page. Run a hand over Origins Oak at our Mississauga or Barrie store before you decide.

Quick answers about this collection before you buy.

What is Canadian Standard Origins Oak?
Canadian Standard Origins Oak is hardwood flooring. Real wood, so it can be refinished rather than replaced when it wears. Do not put solid wood below grade. A basement needs an engineered board.
Can Origins Oak go in a basement or over concrete?
Engineered construction is the reason this is possible: the layered core stays stable where solid wood would move. Confirm the specific line's grade rating on the collection page, and our crews handle the moisture testing and preparation as part of the install.
Can Origins Oak be refinished?
That depends on the wear layer thickness of the board you choose. Thicker veneers can be professionally sanded and refinished; thinner ones are refreshed rather than fully sanded. We do on-site refinishing with our own crews, so ask about the specific board.
Where can I see Origins Oak near me?
You can see it at both Squarefoot Flooring stores, in Mississauga at 700 Dundas St E, Unit 3-4, and in Barrie at 112 Saunders Rd, Units 1-4. A full sample under room light reads very differently from a photo, so come compare it in person before deciding.
