Appalachian Flooring Red Engineered Hardwood
The reason engineered hardwood exists is simple. Concrete slabs, basements, and radiant heat will destroy a solid floor, and engineered was built to handle all three.
In simple terms: Appalachian Flooring Red is engineered hardwood, which means a real hard maple surface over a cross-layered core. You get the look of solid wood with the stability to put it over concrete or in a basement. Squarefoot Flooring stocks it and installs it in-house.
The wood and the build: It comes in Hard Maple, Hickory, Red Oak, and White Oak. Stability comes from the build: a multi-ply core that takes the seasonal swing in stride instead of telegraphing it into the floor. Widths run from 4 to 5 inches, so you can keep it classic or go wide-plank and modern. The surface is smooth, a clean and contemporary finish. It carries a 35-year warranty.
Engineered hardwood gives you options solid wood does not: glue-down over concrete, floating, or nail-down over plywood. Our own crew installs Appalachian Flooring Red across the Toronto and Mississauga area, Barrie, and Simcoe County, never subcontracted, and we flatten and moisture-test the subfloor first, finish the trim, and handle matching stairs. See our hardwood installation page.
Decision line: pick the species for the room, a harder one like oak or hickory for busy main floors, a softer walnut for formal spaces, then let the wear-layer thickness tell you how long it will last.
It is worth seeing Appalachian Red in person before deciding. Visit either showroom, contact us to confirm current stock, and see more in the engineered hardwood range. You can browse the complete Appalachian Flooring lineup on our Appalachian Flooring page.
