Origins Flooring is the engineered hardwood line produced by Canadian Standard, a manufacturer specializing in prefinished wood floors. The Origins collection is built on the premise of combining the character of real hardwood with the structural performance of engineered construction — suitable for installation over concrete, above grade, and over radiant heating systems where solid hardwood would not be appropriate. All Origins planks use a T&G locking system with a nail and glue installation method, a micro bevel edge treatment, and a matte wirebrushed finish across all species.

The Origins range at Squarefoot Flooring covers three species collections. The Origins Hickory collection is a 6.5 inch wide by three quarter inch thick wirebrushed engineered plank in American Hickory, available in colours including Forest Trail, Greysmith, Nottingham, and Warm Heritage, with random lengths from 16 to 75 inches and 19.4 sq ft per carton. The Origins American Walnut collection runs at 7.5 inch wide by three quarter inch thick with a wirebrushed matte finish, available in Astoria, Duchy Estate, Royal Mile, Surrey Hills, and Yorkshire. The Origins Oak collection covers European Oak in two widths — 6.5 inch in colours including Planetary Silver, Polo Pony, Shoreline Grey, and Subtle White, and 7.5 inch in Grayson, Hampshire, Kate, Kinsey, Sedrick, and Tiffany. The Origins XL Oak collection extends to planks up to 83 inches long in a light handscraped and wirebrushed finish, with colours including Charlotte, Constance, Emily, Evelyn, Leah, and Maxine — the longer plank format reduces seam frequency and suits larger open-plan spaces.

The radiant heat approval across the Origins line makes it a practical specification for new construction projects in Ontario where in-floor heating is standard. The T&G nail and glue installation method is suited to renovation projects over existing subfloors where a fully bonded floor is preferred over a floating format. American Hickory at 1820 Janka hardness is the most durable species in the Origins range and handles higher-traffic residential areas and light commercial installs. The American Walnut and European Oak collections suit residential projects where a wider plank and finer grain pattern is the design priority. All Origins collections are rated for on, above, and below grade installation.
