Why Ravenwood Stands Out

Most people choose engineered hardwood for the look and keep it for the stability, the part you only appreciate after a few Ontario winters.

In simple terms: Anderson Tuftex Ravenwood is engineered hardwood, which means a real white oak surface over a cross-layered core. You get the look of solid wood with the stability to put it over concrete or in a basement. Squarefoot Flooring stocks it and installs it in-house.

Decision line: Ravenwood is the practical middle ground, real wood with the stability to go over concrete, into basements, and across the seasons.

The detail behind that: It is real white oak, a cooler, more contemporary cast with a tighter grain than red oak, and a touch harder. White Oak sits around 1360 on the Janka hardness scale, right at the oak benchmark for everyday durability. The wear layer is 2mm of real wood, enough for one careful refinish down the road. The real advantage is underneath: a cross-layered engineered core that stays flat through Ontario's dry winters and humid summers, where a solid plank would cup or gap. That is why it may be suitable for on-grade or above-grade use, and some collections for below-grade use when approved, including basements and concrete slabs, and over in-floor radiant heat, places solid hardwood cannot. The surface is wire-brushed, which lifts the grain for texture and quietly hides everyday wear. Micro-bevelled edges define each plank and disguise the small seasonal movement every wood floor has.

Engineered hardwood gives you options solid wood does not: glue-down over concrete, floating, or nail-down over plywood. Our own crew installs Anderson Tuftex Ravenwood across the Toronto and Mississauga area, Barrie, and Simcoe County, never subcontracted, and we flatten and moisture-test the subfloor first, finish the trim, and handle matching stairs. See our hardwood installation page.

It is worth seeing Ravenwood in person before deciding. Visit either store, contact us to confirm current stock, and see more in the engineered hardwood range. It is radiant-rated, so it pairs with the in-floor heating membranes we stock for in-floor heating projects. For the full Anderson Tuftex range, see our Anderson Tuftex page.

Still Have Questions?

Quick answers about this collection before you buy.

What is Anderson Tuftex Ravenwood?
Anderson Tuftex Ravenwood is engineered hardwood, a layer of real white oak bonded to a stable multi-ply core. It looks and sands like solid wood but stays flat over concrete, in basements, and through Ontario's humidity. Squarefoot Flooring carries it and installs it with our own crew.
Can Ravenwood go in a basement or over radiant heat?
Yes. Unlike solid hardwood, Ravenwood is rated for use on, above, or below grade, including basements and over concrete slabs and over in-floor radiant heat, because the cross-layered core resists the movement that affects solid wood. It still needs a flat, dry subfloor and proper acclimation, which we handle on install.
Can Ravenwood be sanded and refinished?
Yes. Ravenwood has a 2mm real-wood wear layer, thick enough to sand and refinish at least once over its life.
How hard is Ravenwood, and will it dent?
The white oak surface sits around 1360 on the Janka hardness scale, about the red oak benchmark, so it handles everyday household traffic. No wood floor is dent-proof, but the wear layer and finish do most of the work.
Where can I see Ravenwood near me?
You can see Anderson Tuftex Ravenwood at both Squarefoot Flooring showrooms, in Mississauga at 700 Dundas St E, Unit 3-4, and in Barrie at 112 Saunders Rd, Units 1-4. Grain and finish read differently across a full floor, so we recommend seeing a sample first.
