About this product
Roca Tile's Dolce + Vita Beige is a 24" x 24" porcelain tile, made in Spain and 9 mm thick. Roca Dolce + Vita Beige is for entryways, kitchens and hallways, and for a shop or an office floor. It solves the busy floor: the part of a house that takes boots, grit and furniture. That is what the PEI 4 wear rating means in practice. A dynamic coefficient of friction of 0.42 or above clears the ANSI A326.3 threshold of 0.42, so it is rated for a level interior floor that gets wet. Water absorption of 0.5% or less is the figure that makes it a porcelain rather than a ceramic. The trade-off with any glazed porcelain is that the colour is printed and glazed onto the body, so pattern repeats across a large floor unless the tiles are mixed from several boxes as they are laid. The edges are rectified, cut square after firing, which lets a tiler close the joint to about an eighth of an inch. It also means the substrate has to be flat, because a tight joint leaves nowhere to hide a dip. Pair it with a matching bullnose or a metal trim at the edges, an uncoupling membrane over a concrete slab, and a large-format mortar, because a tile this size needs full coverage under it. A box of Dolce + Vita Beige tile holds 2 pieces and covers 11.62 square feet. Order the area you are covering plus about ten per cent for cuts and breakage.
