Roca Tile Avalon Blanco Ceramic 12" x 36"

Roca Tile's Avalon Blanco is a 12" x 36" glazed ceramic tile in a natural stone look, with the tonal shift of split stone, made in Spain and 20 mm thick. Roca Avalon Blanco is for a backsplash, a shower surround or a feature wall. It solves the wall problem a floor tile does not: it is lighter, cuts more cleanly around an outlet, and costs less per square foot than putting a floor tile up a wall. The trade-off with any glazed tile is that the colour sits on the surface rather than running through the body, so a deep chip shows the biscuit underneath. The edges are rectified, cut square after firing, which lets a tiler close the joint to about an eighth of an inch. It also means the substrate has to be flat, because a tight joint leaves nowhere to hide a dip. Most people pair it with a porcelain floor tile from the same collection, so the room runs one tone from the floor up the wall, and with a matching or contrasting grout depending on whether you want the pattern to read.
