Choosing a wood floor in Ontario means working around the climate. A solid plank that looks right in the showroom can gap in a dry winter or cup in a humid summer, and a floor over radiant heat or a concrete subfloor has its own rules. Tosca builds for those conditions, with a hardwood range engineered for the Canadian market and a finish warranty that backs it.
In simple terms: Tosca is a Mississauga-based flooring company with a deep hardwood range, plus vinyl and laminate. At Squarefoot we carry their solid and engineered hardwood, their SPC vinyl, and their laminate. The engineered hardwood is European white oak over a multi-ply core, finished with a lightly wire-brushed, water-base low-sheen surface, and it is radiant heat compatible, which is what makes it suit Ontario homes.
The hardwood carries a limited 35-year finish warranty, the engineered planks run wide and long, up to 75 inches, and the range is sorted into clear grades so you can match the look you want without guessing. That combination of a local supplier, a real warranty, and a graded range is why Tosca holds up as a specification you can stand behind.
Tosca engineered hardwood
The engineered hardwood is European white oak on a stable multi-ply core, the construction that holds its shape through seasonal humidity far better than solid wood, and it works over concrete and with most radiant heating systems. The range is split into three grades. The Select and Better grade collections, including Deluxe, Prestige, Glory, Superior, Aura, Elegant Herringbone, and Prime Oak, are the cleanest, with minimal knots and character. The Character grade collections, including Renaissance, Legend, Composer, Preference, Master, and Diamond, carry more natural knots, movement, and mineral streaking. The Greyish collections, Royal Oak, Noble, and Monarch, cover the cool and grey tones.
Decision line: for a clean contemporary floor choose a Select and Better collection, for a natural character look choose a Character grade collection, and for cool or grey tones go to the Greyish range. Every grade shares the same engineered core and 35-year finish warranty.
Tosca solid hardwood
Tosca's solid range is Northern Red Oak, a 3/4 inch floor that can be sanded and refinished over its life. We carry it as Tosca Oak Hardwood, in a clean Select and Better grade with no open knots or heavy character, across tones from light naturals to deep walnut and ebony, plus a Tosca Maple Hardwood option. Browse the full solid hardwood category for the current colour range.
Decision line: choose solid Northern Red Oak when you want a traditional floor you can refinish for decades, above grade where moisture is not a concern.
Tosca vinyl
Tosca's vinyl is SPC rigid core with an attached underpad, built waterproof and rated for above, on, and below grade. It runs from 5.5mm up to 9mm, with the thicker 5G click lines carrying a cork backing for a warmer step and better sound control, which helps in condo installations where the board sets an acoustic requirement. Matching trims and stair pieces finish the job in the same colour.
Decision line: for a basement, a busy floor, or any space exposed to water, choose a thicker 5G click line with cork backing. For lighter-traffic rooms, the thinner click line covers it.
Tosca laminate
The laminate range is a 12.3mm click product with an embossed surface, offered as the 99 Series and the 17 Series. It is the practical, hard-wearing choice for bedrooms, rentals, and budget-sensitive rooms where you want a wood look without the cost of real wood.
Decision line: choose laminate for a durable, low-maintenance floor in dry rooms, and step up to vinyl when the space can see water.
Why Tosca works in Ontario homes
The range covers most of a house. Engineered white oak gives you a real wood floor above grade that handles the dry-winter, humid-summer swing and pairs with most in-floor heating systems. Solid Northern Red Oak is the refinishable traditional option for living spaces. SPC vinyl handles the basement, the laundry, and any slab that can take on moisture, and laminate covers the dry, lower-traffic rooms. With a Mississauga supplier behind it and a 35-year finish warranty on the hardwood, it is a range that holds up to a Toronto condo, a Barrie family home, or a cottage that sees big seasonal change.
How it compares
If you are still choosing between materials, these help: hardwood vs vinyl covers look, resale, and durability, vinyl vs laminate covers the waterproofing gap, and is flooring waterproof explains what waterproof means at the seam and the core.
Which Tosca is right for you
Match the material to the room. Main level or feature space where you want genuine wood: Tosca engineered white oak, clean grade for a contemporary look or character grade for natural movement. A traditional floor you can refinish for decades: solid Northern Red Oak. Basement, laundry, or any space exposed to water: SPC vinyl. Bedrooms and dry, lower-traffic rooms: laminate. Not sure how to split it across your plan, bring your measurements and photos to either showroom and we will map it with you.
Installation by our own crew
We install Tosca with our own in-house team, residential and commercial, not subcontractors. Tosca hardwood is a tongue-and-groove, nail-down floor with glue assist, which is exactly the kind of install where a trained crew matters, and we cover the full scope from subfloor assessment and moisture testing through trim and transitions. See our hardwood installation and vinyl installation process pages, and browse our projects for completed work.
