Roca Tile's Statuary is a 12" x 24" matte porcelain tile in a marble look, veined across the face, made in Spain and 9 mm thick. Roca Statuary is for bedrooms, living areas and bathrooms. It solves the everyday residential floor: hard-wearing enough for daily use, without paying for a commercial-grade body. That is what the PEI 3 wear rating means in practice. A dynamic coefficient of friction of 0.42 or above clears the ANSI A326.3 threshold of 0.42, so it is rated for a level interior floor that gets wet. Water absorption of 0.5% or less is the figure that makes it a porcelain rather than a ceramic. The trade-off is light. A matte face hides dust and water spotting far better than a polish, but it will not bounce light into a dark room the way a gloss does. The edges are rectified, cut square after firing, which lets a tiler close the joint to about an eighth of an inch. It also means the substrate has to be flat, because a tight joint leaves nowhere to hide a dip. Pair it with a matching bullnose or a metal trim at the edges, an uncoupling membrane over a concrete slab, and a large-format mortar, because a tile this size needs full coverage under it.
