Roca Tile's Nordico Snow is a 24" x 24" matte porcelain tile in a concrete look, flat and evenly clouded, made in Brazil and 10 mm thick. Roca Nordico Snow is for the hardest-worn floors in a house and for retail and hospitality. It solves a floor that will be walked on all day for years. That is what the PEI 5 wear rating means in practice. A dynamic coefficient of friction of 0.40 or less sits below the 0.42 ANSI A326.3 threshold, so keep it off wet floors and use a textured tile in a shower base. Water absorption of 0.5% or less is the figure that makes it a porcelain rather than a ceramic. The trade-off is light. A matte face hides dust and water spotting far better than a polish, but it will not bounce light into a dark room the way a gloss does. The edges are rectified, cut square after firing, which lets a tiler close the joint to about an eighth of an inch. It also means the substrate has to be flat, because a tight joint leaves nowhere to hide a dip. Pair it with a matching bullnose or a metal trim at the edges, an uncoupling membrane over a concrete slab, and a large-format mortar, because a tile this size needs full coverage under it.
