Petrified Wood Natural, 2" x 2", comes on a mesh sheet, which is the only sensible way to tile a shower pan or wrap a curved wall. A natural finish holds grip when it is wet and does not show water spotting the way a polished face does. Because it is porcelain the body is dense all the way through, so a chip does not show a different colour underneath the way it can on a glazed ceramic. The colours in this line are not all rated the same: PEI runs 3 to 5 across them, so check the rating on the one you are actually buying before it goes anywhere busy. A box holds 10.66 sq ft, so a 100 sq ft floor works out at 11 boxes once you add the usual ten percent for cuts and the odd broken piece. Expect a lot of grout with a sheet this small, so the grout colour will do as much to the finished look as the tile does. Both the Mississauga and Barrie stores keep it out, so you can put it beside your cabinet door or a paint chip before you commit.
