With Marmi Apuani Black, 4" x 8", the pattern you lay it in does more to the room than the colour does. The natural surface keeps its texture, which is what you want where feet arrive wet. Fired harder and denser than ceramic, porcelain copes with freeze and thaw as well, so a covered porch or a three season room is fair game. The colours in this line are not all rated the same: PEI runs 4 to 5 across them, so check the rating on the one you are actually buying before it goes anywhere busy.
