Ceratec Pieza Ivory Polished Porcelain Mosaic 1" x 8"

A mosaic is the easiest way to give a backsplash, a niche or a shower wall some detail without changing the whole room.

In simple terms: Pieza Ivory is a 1x8 terrazzo look porcelain mosaic for dry floors and walls.

It is the polished finish in Ivory from the Ceratec Pieza range.

Each sheet measures 11.75" x 15.35", with 1" x 8" pieces. It is 10 mm thick. The edges are rectified, so it can be set with a tight grout joint. It is full-body porcelain: the colour runs through the tile, so a chip blends in. The spec sheet lists a wet DCOF slip reading below 0.42 and water absorption below 0.5%. It is rated for commercial traffic. It is frost resistant. Shade variation is V2, slight. It is made in Canada. Porcelain is fired dense, so it handles water, spills and daily foot traffic and the tile itself never needs sealing.

It suits backsplashes, feature walls and shower walls. Pick it as the feature, and run a plain field tile around it.

Each sheet covers 1.25 sq ft, so a 30 sq ft kitchen backsplash takes 24 sheets, or 27 sheets with about 10% extra for cuts and spares. It is sold by the sheet, and a box holds 4 sheets. For every 100 sq ft, plan on 88 sheets with the 10% extra included.

It is listed for outdoor use, but we would not put this finish on a patio, steps or a pool deck. On a floor, keep the polished face out of showers and away from entry doors where wet boots come in, because it gets slick when wet.

In this size, Pieza also comes in Graphite and Zinc. For edges, Ceratec recommends a 1/2" trim profile.

Our own crews install it, so the people who measure the job are the people who answer for it. See Ceratec Pieza Ivory in person at our Mississauga showroom (700 Dundas St E, Unit 3-4, 905-277-2227) or our Barrie showroom (112 Saunders Rd, Units 1-4, 705-726-2272).
