Ceratec Gatsby Pearl Polished Porcelain Mosaic 2" x 4"

A mosaic is the easiest way to give a backsplash, a niche or a shower wall some detail without changing the whole room.

In simple terms: Gatsby Pearl is a 2x4 marble look porcelain mosaic for dry floors and walls.

It is the polished finish in Pearl from the Ceratec Gatsby range.

Each sheet measures 11.8" x 11.8", with 2" x 4" pieces. It is 9 mm thick. The edges are rectified, so it can be set with a tight grout joint. The spec sheet lists PEI III surface abrasion rating, a wet DCOF slip reading below 0.42 and water absorption of 0.1%. It is rated for light commercial traffic. It is frost resistant. Shade variation is V2, slight. It is designed by Ceratec in Canada and made in China. Porcelain is fired dense, so it handles water, spills and daily foot traffic and the tile itself never needs sealing.

It suits backsplashes, feature walls and shower walls. Pick it as the feature, and run a plain field tile around it.

Each sheet covers 0.97 sq ft, so a 30 sq ft kitchen backsplash takes 32 sheets, or 35 sheets with about 10% extra for cuts and spares. It is sold by the sheet, and a box holds 11 sheets. For every 100 sq ft, plan on 114 sheets with the 10% extra included.

It is listed for outdoor use, but we would not put this finish on a patio, steps or a pool deck. On a floor, keep the polished face out of showers and away from entry doors where wet boots come in, because it gets slick when wet. It is rated for light commercial traffic, so keep it out of busy commercial floors.

In this size, Gatsby also comes in Art Deco, Charleston and Martini. Pearl also comes in 12" x 24", 24" x 24", 1" x 3" and 2" x 2". For edges, Ceratec recommends a 1/2" trim profile.

Our own crews install it, so the people who measure the job are the people who answer for it. See Ceratec Gatsby Pearl in person at our Mississauga showroom (700 Dundas St E, Unit 3-4, 905-277-2227) or our Barrie showroom (112 Saunders Rd, Units 1-4, 705-726-2272).
