Ceratec Biscotti Saggio Glossy Porcelain Mosaic 1" x 4"

A mosaic is the easiest way to give a backsplash, a niche or a shower wall some detail without changing the whole room.

In simple terms: Biscotti Saggio is a 1x4 porcelain mosaic for dry floors and walls.

It is the glossy finish in Saggio from the Ceratec Biscotti range.

Each sheet measures 11.2" x 11.6", with 1" x 4" pieces. It is 8 mm thick. The spec sheet lists PEI III surface abrasion rating, a wet DCOF slip reading below 0.42 and water absorption below 0.5%. It is rated for light commercial traffic. It is frost resistant. Shade variation is V1, uniform. It is designed by Ceratec in Canada and made in China. Porcelain is fired dense, so it handles water, spills and daily foot traffic and the tile itself never needs sealing.

It suits backsplashes, feature walls and shower walls. Pick it as the feature, and run a plain field tile around it.

Each sheet covers 0.9 sq ft, so a 30 sq ft kitchen backsplash takes 34 sheets, or 37 sheets with about 10% extra for cuts and spares. It is sold by the sheet, and a box holds 12 sheets. For every 100 sq ft, plan on 122 sheets with the 10% extra included.

It is listed for outdoor use, but we would not put this finish on a patio, steps or a pool deck. On a floor, keep the glossy face out of showers and away from entry doors where wet boots come in, because it gets slick when wet. It is rated for light commercial traffic, so keep it out of busy commercial floors.

In this size, Biscotti also comes in Bianco. For edges, Ceratec recommends a 3/8" trim profile.

Our own crews install it, so the people who measure the job are the people who answer for it. See Ceratec Biscotti Saggio in person at our Mississauga showroom (700 Dundas St E, Unit 3-4, 905-277-2227) or our Barrie showroom (112 Saunders Rd, Units 1-4, 705-726-2272).
