Purparket is a Toronto-based, family-owned engineered hardwood manufacturer producing boutique, small-batch European White Oak flooring made in Canada. Every Purparket floor carries a 4mm wear layer, is finished with the brand's proprietary VOC-free PurFlex coating, and is CARB Phase II compliant and radiant-heat approved.

In simple terms: Purparket is a premium, locally made European oak floor with one of the thicker wear layers on the market, which is what lets it stand up to commercial and high-traffic use and last far longer than a standard thin-veneer engineered floor. Squarefoot Flooring carries three Purparket collections, and our own crew installs them, including the herringbone and chevron patterns.

The construction is what sets it apart. All three collections are built on a marine-grade Baltic birch and poplar multi-ply core, cross-banded for dimensional stability, with a 4mm sawn European White Oak top layer. That 4mm wear layer is thicker than most standard engineered hardwood, which is why Purparket suits commercial and high-traffic residential spaces where a thinner veneer would need earlier replacement. The cross-ply core manages humidity movement better than softwood-cored alternatives, which matters in Ontario builds where the swing between dry winters and humid summers causes movement in lower-quality engineered products. With radiant-heat compatibility and an approved humidity range of 35 to 55 percent, it is a practical specification for new construction with in-floor heating.

The Purparket collections

The Gravity European White Oak collection is the core of the range, available in smooth brushed, handscraped, rift and quarter, herringbone, and chevron formats at 5/8 inch thickness. Plank widths run from 5.5 inches in smooth brushed up to 7.5 inches in the handscraped format, with random lengths from 24 to 84 inches, and most of each bundle falls between 55 and 80 inches. Colours run across neutral and natural tones including Honey Harbour, Vapour, Fjord, Ice, and Muskoka. The herringbone and chevron formats are the option for feature areas and designer-specified layouts.

The Veneto European White Oak collection is a more refined selection of European oak in coordinating formats and finishes, and the Horizon European White Oak collection rounds out the range. All three share the same cross-banded multi-ply core and the same 4mm wear layer.

Decision line: start in Gravity for the widest format and finish range and for herringbone or chevron; choose Veneto for a more curated palette; and look at Horizon for the tighter, focused selection.

Why Purparket works in Ontario homes

The thick 4mm wear layer and the cross-ply core are exactly what an Ontario specification wants: a floor that can be sanded and refreshed once over its life, that holds dimensional stability through the seasonal humidity swing, and that works over in-floor heating. Being made in Toronto also shortens the supply line compared with imported European oak. If you are weighing it against other wood options, our team can walk you through where Purparket fits. We can confirm the format, grade, and finish of a specific collection for your room before you order.

Installation by our own crew

Squarefoot Flooring's own in-house team installs Purparket for residential and commercial projects across the Toronto and Mississauga area, Barrie, and Simcoe County, including the herringbone and chevron pattern installations that need an experienced installer. We do not subcontract, and we cover subfloor assessment, moisture testing, the install, and all trim and transition work. See our hardwood installation process, and browse our projects for completed work.
