Why Kronoswiss Stands Out

What Kronoswiss flooring is

Kronoswiss is a Swiss laminate brand built around durability. A laminate plank is a dense fibreboard core with a printed wood or stone image and a clear wear layer on top, and the quality of that wear layer is what separates a floor that still looks new after ten years from one that scuffs in two. Kronoswiss sits at the harder-wearing end of the laminate market, which is why it suits busy homes and light commercial floors as much as quieter rooms.

How laminate is rated, and why it matters

Laminate is graded by an AC abrasion class from AC1 to AC5. AC3 is fine for a normal home. AC4 suits a busy household or a light commercial space like a small office or boutique. AC5 is built for heavier commercial traffic. Matching the AC rating to the room is the single most useful decision you can make with laminate, because an under-rated floor in a busy spot wears through the decor layer, and that cannot be sanded back the way hardwood can. When you tell us how the room is used, we will point you to the right class rather than the most expensive plank.

Water-resistant and waterproof ranges

Standard laminate does not love standing water, because the fibreboard core can swell if water sits in the seams. Kronoswiss offers water-resistant and waterproof ranges with tighter joints and treated cores that handle the splashes and mopping of a kitchen, a hallway, or an entry. These are a sensible middle ground between ordinary laminate and vinyl: they keep the firmer, warmer feel of laminate underfoot while tolerating the wet spots that would trouble a basic floor. For a full wet room or a bathroom, we would still steer you to tile or vinyl.

Thickness, feel, and looks

Laminate comes in a range of thicknesses, and a thicker plank feels more solid underfoot and bridges minor subfloor imperfections better, while the surface texture does the visual work. Kronoswiss decors run from warm oaks to cooler greys and stone looks, many with an embossed texture that follows the grain of the printed board so the floor reads as real wood to the eye and the hand. Plank formats and bevelled edges vary by range, and the bevel is what gives each plank a defined edge rather than a flat sheet look.

Installation

Kronoswiss installs as a floating floor: the planks click together over an underlay and are not glued or nailed to the subfloor, which makes for a clean, fast install over most existing hard floors. The two details that matter are a flat subfloor, within about 3 mm over 3 m, and an expansion gap of roughly 6 to 10 mm left around the perimeter so the floor can move with the seasons without buckling. The right underlay adds comfort and quietens the floor. Our crews handle all of this as part of the install.

Where it fits: home and light commercial

At home, Kronoswiss suits living rooms, bedrooms, hallways, and, in its water-resistant ranges, kitchens and entries. For light commercial work, an AC4 or AC5 plank handles an office, a boutique, or a showroom floor. Wherever it goes, the plan is the same: match the AC rating to the traffic, choose a water-resistant range for any spot that gets wet, and set it over a flat base. Bring your room measurements to either store and our team will help you match the right plank to the room, and our in-house crews can install it.

In simple terms: Kronoswiss is tough Swiss-made laminate that looks like wood for less. Match the AC rating to how busy the room is, AC3 for a quiet room up to AC5 for heavy traffic, pick a water-resistant range for a kitchen or entry, leave an expansion gap around the edges, and you get a floor that wears well and installs fast.

Common Questions About Kronoswiss Flooring

Quick answers about Kronoswiss, materials, and shopping at Squarefoot Flooring.

What is Kronoswiss flooring?
Kronoswiss is Swiss-made laminate flooring: a dense fibreboard core with a printed wood or stone surface and a hard-wearing clear top layer. It gives the look of hardwood at a lower cost, with a tough wear layer that handles daily traffic, and it comes in water-resistant and waterproof ranges for kitchens and entries.
What AC rating do I need for laminate?
AC3 suits a normal home, AC4 suits a busy household or a light commercial space like a small office or boutique, and AC5 is built for heavier commercial traffic. Match the rating to how the room is used; an under-rated floor in a busy spot wears through the decor layer, which cannot be sanded back the way hardwood can.
Is Kronoswiss laminate waterproof?
Kronoswiss offers water-resistant and waterproof ranges with tighter joints and treated cores that handle the splashes and mopping of a kitchen, hallway, or entry. Standard laminate is not waterproof, since the core can swell if water sits in the seams, so choose a water-resistant range for wet-prone rooms. For a full bathroom or wet room, tile or vinyl is the better choice.
Can you install Kronoswiss flooring for me?
Yes. Our own in-house crews install Kronoswiss laminate as a floating floor over a prepared base, with the right underlay and expansion gaps, for homes and light commercial spaces across Mississauga, Barrie, and the surrounding areas. Bring your room measurements to either store and we will quote supply and install.
