Why Somerset Stands Out

Carpet is the one floor you feel before you see it, and broadloom is still the softest, warmest way to cover a bedroom or a whole lower level.

In simple terms: Anderson Tuftex Somerset is broadloom carpet, the wall-to-wall kind that comes on a wide roll and is stretched over a separate cushion for a soft, warm, quiet floor. Squarefoot Flooring carries it and our own crew installs it.

Here is what matters with this one. It is a textured cut pile, built from twisted yarns that refuse to show every footprint and track mark. That forgiving surface is why it is the default choice for everyday rooms rather than for-show spaces. The fiber is nylon, the most resilient carpet fiber there is: it springs back from foot traffic instead of matting down, takes cleaning well, and holds up on stairs and in busy rooms better than any other fiber. A Softbac backing is more flexible and quieter than a traditional stiff backing, which makes it easier to fit cleanly around a room and less prone to wrinkling over time. Its 65 oz per square yard face weight is on the dense, substantial end, so it feels thick and full underfoot. It comes on standard 12-foot-wide rolls, so a typical room needs only one or two planned seams. It is manufactured in the USA. Colours in the range include Asphalt, Calypso, Charcoal Blue, Chic Taupe, Distant Land, and Down Home.

Good fits are bedrooms, living rooms, basements, home offices, and especially stairs, where carpet adds grip and hushes footsteps. It is warm and sound-absorbing, the opposite of a hard floor. The exception is wet rooms, where a waterproof hard surface is the better call.

Broadloom is stretched in over a separate underpad, not glued, and the install is where it is won or lost. Our in-house team sets the tack strips, lays the carpet underpad, power-stretches the carpet so it stays taut, and heat-seams the seams flat. We handle stairs and transitions too. See our projects for examples.

Decision line: Somerset is built for real use, the carpet to choose for stairs, family rooms, and high-traffic areas that still need to feel soft.

Carpet colour and texture read very differently across a full room than in a small sample, so it is worth seeing Somerset in person at either store. Contact us to check stock, browse the wider broadloom carpet range, or compare it with modular carpet tile. See the wider Anderson Tuftex range too.

Still Have Questions?

Quick answers about this collection before you buy.

What is Anderson Tuftex Somerset?
Anderson Tuftex Somerset is broadloom carpet, the wall-to-wall kind on a 12-foot roll, in a textured cut pile style built on nylon. It is stretched in over a separate underpad. Squarefoot Flooring carries it and installs it with our own crew.
Where is Somerset best used?
Somerset suits bedrooms, living and family rooms, stairs, hallways, and finished basements, where warmth, softness, and sound control matter. Its nylon fiber handles stairs and high-traffic areas well. Carpet should not go in wet rooms like bathrooms or laundry rooms.
How is Somerset installed?
Somerset is installed by the stretch-in method over a separate cushion. Our crew tacks perimeter strips, lays the underpad, power-stretches the carpet so it stays taut, and heat-seams any joins flat. The quality of the underpad and the stretch is what keeps carpet looking and feeling good over time.
Is Somerset good with pets and kids?
Somerset uses resilient nylon that takes cleaning well, a practical choice for active households. For homes with pets, a cut pile is generally safer than a loop, which claws can snag. Ask us to match the right style to your household.
Where can I see Somerset near me?
You can see Anderson Tuftex Somerset at both Squarefoot Flooring showrooms, in Mississauga at 700 Dundas St E, Unit 3-4, and in Barrie at 112 Saunders Rd, Units 1-4. Carpet reads differently across a full floor, so we recommend seeing a sample first.
