Anderson Tuftex Paw-tay Broadloom Carpet

Anderson Tuftex Paw-tay is a cut & loop pile broadloom carpet, nylon, carried and installed by Squarefoot Flooring. See it at our Mississauga and Barrie showrooms.

For bedrooms, stairs, and family rooms, nothing beats wall-to-wall carpet for warmth and quiet, and the choice really comes down to two things: the pile style and the fiber.

In simple terms: Anderson Tuftex Paw-tay is broadloom carpet, the wall-to-wall kind that comes on a wide roll and is stretched over a separate cushion for a soft, warm, quiet floor. Squarefoot Flooring carries it and our own crew installs it.

Good fits are bedrooms, living rooms, basements, home offices, and especially stairs, where carpet adds grip and hushes footsteps. It is warm and sound-absorbing, the opposite of a hard floor. The exception is wet rooms, where a waterproof hard surface is the better call.

The detail behind that: It is a cut-and-loop, blending cut tufts with loops to build a subtle relief pattern. The varied surface hides everyday soil and footprints and reads as texture rather than a printed motif, sitting nicely between a flat plush and a hard loop. The yarn is nylon, the workhorse of carpet fiber. It resists crushing, bounces back after furniture and feet, and cleans up well, so it keeps its look in the rooms that get used hardest. Because it is solution-dyed, the colour runs all the way through the strand and shrugs off fading. A Softbac backing is more flexible and quieter than a traditional stiff backing, which makes it easier to fit cleanly around a room and less prone to wrinkling over time. Its 34 oz per square yard face weight is on the lighter side, a fit for bedrooms and quieter rooms. It comes on standard 12-foot-wide rolls, so a typical room needs only one or two planned seams. It is made in the USA. Colours in the range include Avon, Bennington, Birch, Cedar, Cloud Cover, and Danville.

Broadloom is stretched in over a separate underpad, not glued, and the install is where it is won or lost. Our in-house team sets the tack strips, lays the carpet underpad, power-stretches the carpet so it stays taut, and heat-seams the seams flat. We handle stairs and transitions too. See our projects for examples.

Decision line: Paw-tay is built for real use, the carpet to choose for stairs, family rooms, and high-traffic areas that still need to feel soft.

See Paw-tay in person before deciding, since pile and colour shift across a room and under different light. It is at our Mississauga and Barrie showrooms; contact us about availability, and if it is for a lower level, our best flooring for a basement guide is worth a read.
