Why Fair Isle Stands Out

Carpet is the one floor you feel before you see it, and broadloom is still the softest, warmest way to cover a bedroom or a whole lower level.

In simple terms: Anderson Tuftex Fair Isle is broadloom carpet, the wall-to-wall kind that comes on a wide roll and is stretched over a separate cushion for a soft, warm, quiet floor. Squarefoot Flooring carries it and our own crew installs it.

The style and the build: It is a plush cut pile, the smooth, dense, formal-looking carpet that feels soft underfoot. The trade-off is honest: a plush surface shows footprints and vacuum marks, so it shines in low-traffic, for-show rooms like a primary bedroom or a formal living room. The fiber is nylon, the most resilient carpet fiber there is: it springs back from foot traffic instead of matting down, takes cleaning well, and holds up on stairs and in busy rooms better than any other fiber. A Softbac backing is more flexible and quieter than a traditional stiff backing, which makes it easier to fit cleanly around a room and less prone to wrinkling over time. Its 40 to 64 oz per square yard face weight is on the dense, substantial end, so it feels thick and full underfoot. The 12-foot roll width means fewer seams across a room, and we place the ones you do need where they show least. It is manufactured in the USA. Colours in the range include Misty Dawn, Sugar Cookie, French White, Tawny Bisque, Elephant Ear, and Hiking Trail.

Think bedrooms, family rooms, home theatres, stairs, and lower levels: anywhere you want a soft, warm, quiet floor. Carpet also absorbs sound between rooms and floors, which helps in condos and busy households. Keep it out of bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms where moisture is a constant.

Decision line: choose Fair Isle for a bedroom or formal room where a soft, smooth, plush surface matters more than hiding footprints.

Broadloom is stretched in over a separate underpad, not glued, and the install is where it is won or lost. Our in-house team sets the tack strips, lays the carpet underpad, power-stretches the carpet so it stays taut, and heat-seams the seams flat. We handle stairs and transitions too. See our projects for examples.

See Fair Isle in person before deciding, since pile and colour shift across a room and under different light. It is at our Mississauga and Barrie stores; contact us about availability, and if it is for a lower level, our best flooring for a basement guide is worth a read. The full Anderson Tuftex lineup is worth a look as well.

Still Have Questions?

Quick answers about this collection before you buy.

What is Anderson Tuftex Fair Isle?
Anderson Tuftex Fair Isle is broadloom carpet, the wall-to-wall kind on a 12-foot roll, in a plush cut pile style built on nylon. It is stretched in over a separate underpad. Squarefoot Flooring carries it and installs it with our own crew.
Where is Fair Isle best used?
Fair Isle suits bedrooms, living and family rooms, stairs, hallways, and finished basements, where warmth, softness, and sound control matter. Its nylon fiber handles stairs and high-traffic areas well. Carpet should not go in wet rooms like bathrooms or laundry rooms.
How is Fair Isle installed?
Fair Isle is installed by the stretch-in method over a separate cushion. Our crew tacks perimeter strips, lays the underpad, power-stretches the carpet so it stays taut, and heat-seams any joins flat. The quality of the underpad and the stretch is what keeps carpet looking and feeling good over time.
Is Fair Isle good with pets and kids?
Fair Isle uses resilient nylon that takes cleaning well, a practical choice for active households. For homes with pets, a cut pile is generally safer than a loop, which claws can snag. Ask us to match the right style to your household.
Where can I see Fair Isle near me?
You can see Anderson Tuftex Fair Isle at both Squarefoot Flooring showrooms, in Mississauga at 700 Dundas St E, Unit 3-4, and in Barrie at 112 Saunders Rd, Units 1-4. Carpet reads differently across a full floor, so we recommend seeing a sample first.
