COREtec Floors Originals VV704 Vinyl Plank Flooring

If a room sees water, pets, or heavy traffic, vinyl tends to be the practical answer, as long as you read past the photo to the build.

In simple terms: COREtec Floors Originals VV704 is luxury vinyl plank, a wood-look floor that is built to take real-life traffic. It is WPC, Squarefoot Flooring carries it and our own crew installs it.

The core is WPC, wood-polymer composite, the more comfortable of the rigid cores. It has a touch more give than stone-based rigid-core, so it feels softer and warmer to walk on while staying stable and flat. It has a 20 mil wear layer, the sweet spot for busy homes and light commercial rooms, well above the builder-grade 6 to 12 mil you find in big-box vinyl. With vinyl, the mil rating tells you more about longevity than the overall thickness does. An attached acoustic underlayment cuts down sound transfer and adds a little underfoot comfort, and it saves a separate pad on install. Planks run up to 7.05 inches wide and 48.03 inches long, a wide-and-long format that reads like real wood. Micro-bevelled edges define each plank for a more authentic look. It is backed by an USF 10-year Medium commercial warranty. Colours in the range include Blended Caraway, Blended Cocoon, Blended Praline, Blended Sienna, and Blended Umber.

Decision line: Originals VV704 is the warmer, softer-feeling option, a good fit where comfort underfoot is worth a slightly thicker board.
