In simple terms: NAF Flooring Royal is luxury vinyl plank, a wood-look floor that is 100% waterproof and built to take real-life traffic. It is rigid-core, Squarefoot Flooring carries it and our own crew installs it.

Decision line: Royal is the choice when you want a thin, rock-solid, fully waterproof floor that hides an imperfect subfloor and goes just about anywhere.

The detail behind that: The core here is rigid-core, a stone-and-polymer composite that is denser and more rigid than standard vinyl. That rigidity is what lets it sit flat over an imperfect subfloor and hold its shape year-round, and it installs as a floating click floor. It has a 20 mil wear layer, the sweet spot for busy homes and light commercial rooms, well above the builder-grade 6 to 12 mil you find in big-box vinyl. With vinyl, the mil rating tells you more about longevity than the overall thickness does. Because it is 100% waterproof rather than just water-resistant, you can put it in the rooms that rule out wood and laminate, full baths, laundry rooms, kitchens, and basements. Planks run up to 7 inches wide and 60 inches long, a wide-and-long format that reads like real wood. It is also FloorScore certified for indoor air quality. Colours in the range include Buckingham, Cornwall, Durham, Hampton, and Kensington.
