The right area rug anchors a space, softens a hardwood or tile floor underfoot, and quiets a room, which is why designers treat the rug as the starting point, not an afterthought.
In simple terms: Affiliated Weavers Nordic is a ready-made area rug, the easy way to warm up a hard floor and anchor a seating or dining area. No install, just the right size and a rug pad. Squarefoot Flooring stocks it.
Here is what matters with this one. It is power-loomed by machine, giving a clean, consistent pattern and a hard-wearing surface at a friendlier price than a hand-knotted rug. It blends polypropylene with polyester, pairing the toughness and stain resistance of polypropylene with the soft hand and lustre of polyester, a forgiving combination for family rooms. With a high 20mm pile, it is plush and cozy underfoot, the kind of soft rug you want in a bedroom or a lounge area, though a deeper pile takes a little more vacuuming. A moderate weave density keeps it comfortable and practical for everyday rooms. Styled contemporary, it suits modern and updated interiors with current colours and patterns. It is woven in Turkey. It comes in colours such as Grey, Black, Ivory, White, and Orange.
It comes in sizes around 5 by 8 feet, 7 by 10 feet, and 8 by 11 feet. The most common mistake is buying a rug too small. In a living room, aim for the front legs of the seating to land on the rug at minimum; in a dining room, allow about two feet of rug beyond the table edge so chairs stay on it; in a bedroom, let it extend past the sides and foot of the bed. If you are unsure, our team will size it with you in the store.
Good spots are living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, and entries, and it is especially useful layered over hardwood or vinyl to warm up the floor, cut down echo, and protect the surface from scratches and wear in high-use areas.
One thing worth adding: a rug pad. It keeps the rug from sliding, protects the floor underneath, adds a little cushion, and helps the rug last longer. The synthetic fibers spot-clean easily, so most spills wipe up with mild soap and water.
Decision line: Nordic is the easy-living pick, the rug to choose for a family room, kids' space, or busy area where spills and traffic are a given.
See Nordic in person before deciding, since colour and pile shift under room light. It is at our Mississauga and Barrie stores; contact us about sizes and availability, or start from our Toronto rug page.
