Ceratec Kanji Black Glossy Porcelain Subway Tile 4" x 9"

A backsplash or a shower wall is looked at up close every day, so the colour, the sheen and the grout line count for more than they do on a floor. Kanji Black is made for that wall.

In simple terms: Kanji Black is a 4x9 porcelain subway tile for walls only, such as backsplashes, feature walls and shower walls.

It is the glossy finish in Black from the Ceratec Kanji range.

The actual size is 4.5" x 9.1" (115 x 230 mm). It is 8.5 mm thick. The spec sheet lists water absorption below 0.5%. It is frost resistant. Shade variation is V3, moderate. It is made in Spain. Porcelain is fired dense, so it handles water, spills and daily foot traffic and the tile itself never needs sealing.

It suits kitchen backsplashes, feature walls, bathroom and shower walls and tub surrounds. Pick it for walls only; for a floor, choose a tile that is listed for floors.

Each box holds 24 pieces and covers 6.75 sq ft, so a 30 sq ft kitchen backsplash takes 5 boxes, and that still leaves about 10% extra for cuts and spares. For every 100 sq ft, plan on 17 boxes with the 10% extra included.

It is listed for walls only, so do not put it on a floor, including a shower floor.

In this size, Kanji also comes in Snow, Beige, Salvia, Sea Blue and Walnut. For edges, Ceratec recommends a 3/8" trim profile.
