It clicks together as a floating floor. It has a 20 mil wear layer, the sweet spot for busy homes and light commercial rooms, well above the builder-grade 6 to 12 mil you find in big-box vinyl. With vinyl, the mil rating tells you more about longevity than the overall thickness does. It is 100% waterproof top to bottom, not merely water-resistant, so kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements, and entries are all fair game. With an IIC rating around 72 and an STC around 73 and an attached acoustic pad, it meets the sound ratings most Toronto and Mississauga condo boards require, which is often the deciding factor in a high-rise. Tiles come in a 7 by 48 inch format. An embossed surface adds real texture underfoot rather than a flat printed face. Painted micro-bevelled edges frame each plank and hide the seams.
