If a room sees water, pets, or heavy traffic, vinyl tends to be the practical answer, as long as you read past the photo to the build.

In simple terms: COREtec Floors Originals VV880 is luxury vinyl plank, a wood-look floor that is 100% waterproof and built to take real-life traffic. It is WPC, Squarefoot Flooring carries it and our own crew installs it.

Here is what matters on this one. WPC means a wood-polymer composite core. It keeps the stability of rigid vinyl but adds a bit of cushion, so it is warmer and quieter underfoot than a stone core, which people notice most in kitchens and family rooms. It has a 20 mil wear layer, the sweet spot for busy homes and light commercial rooms, well above the builder-grade 6 to 12 mil you find in big-box vinyl. On vinyl, that mil number is the best single predictor of how long the floor keeps looking new, more than thickness or price. Water is a non-issue: it is 100% waterproof through the whole plank, which is what makes it the go-to for bathrooms, kitchens, and below-grade rooms. It comes with an attached acoustic pad, which softens sound between floors and means one less layer to buy and lay. Planks run up to 7 inches wide and 59 inches long, a wide-and-long format that reads like real wood. Micro-bevelled edges define each plank for a more authentic look. It is backed by an USF Lifetime residential warranty. Colours in the range include Balanced Oak, Pure Oak, Tranquil Oak, Delicate Oak, and Meditative Oak.

Decision line: Originals VV880 is the warmer, softer-feeling option, a good fit where comfort underfoot is worth a slightly thicker board.

Our own crew installs COREtec Floors Originals VV880 across the Toronto and Mississauga area, Barrie, and Simcoe County, never subcontracted. A floating vinyl floor still needs a clean, flat base, so we level and prep first, then finish the trim and transitions. See our vinyl installation page.

We keep Originals VV880 at both showrooms, where the texture and colour read properly. Contact us for stock, or start from our Toronto and Mississauga vinyl pages. The is flooring waterproof guide breaks down how waterproof vinyl compares. See more COREtec Floors options on our COREtec Floors page.
