In simple terms: COREtec Floors Originals VV820 is luxury vinyl plank, a wood-look floor that is 100% waterproof and built to take real-life traffic. Squarefoot Flooring carries it and our own crew installs it.

The build and the spec: This is a flexible glue-down vinyl. Bonded to the subfloor with full-spread adhesive, it stays put under heavy traffic and rolling loads, which is why it is a fixture in offices and busy commercial spaces. The trade-off is that it demands proper subfloor prep to look right. The 20 mil wear layer puts it in heavy-residential, light-commercial territory, which is where vinyl earns its keep in a family home. With vinyl, the mil rating tells you more about longevity than the overall thickness does. It is 100% waterproof top to bottom, not merely water-resistant, so kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, basements, and entries are all fair game. It comes with an attached acoustic pad, which softens sound between floors and means one less layer to buy and lay. Planks run up to 7 inches wide and 48 inches long, a wide-and-long format that reads like real wood. Colours in the range include Chromatic Beech, Feather Walnut, Tawny Beech, and Wheat Oak.
