What SPC rigid core construction means

Baronwood U Plus is built on an SPC rigid core. SPC stands for stone plastic composite, a dense core made primarily from limestone powder and PVC, and it is what separates rigid vinyl from flexible glue-down vinyl. The rigid core does not flex, soften, or expand the way thin flexible vinyl can. Baronwood U Plus installs as a floating floor: the planks click together edge to edge and rest over the subfloor with no glue or nails. A rigid core bridges minor imperfections in the subfloor better than a thin plank, so installation is more forgiving, a floating floor goes down quickly, and it can often be laid directly over many existing hard surfaces. One honest note: a floating floor still wants a reasonably flat, clean, dry subfloor, and large dips or bumps should be corrected before installation.

The 5Gi Drop Lock system and what it does

The locking system is what holds a floating floor together, and Baronwood U Plus uses a 5Gi Drop Lock system. It is an angle-and-drop joint: the long edge of a plank angles into the row beside it, then the short end simply drops down and locks, with no tapping block or end-to-end sliding required. In practice, that makes the floor faster and cleaner to install, and it produces a tight, secure joint on all four sides that resists the gapping and edge lift a weaker click system can develop over time. The plank also has a 1.5mm acoustic pad attached to the underside, so there is no separate underlay to source, and that pad adds cushioning and helps absorb footstep sound.

100% waterproof, and what that actually covers

Baronwood U Plus carries a 100% waterproof rating, and the SPC core is the reason. A stone composite core does not absorb water or swell, so spills, mopping, humidity, and damp conditions will not damage the plank, and the floor can be installed in bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, and basements. One honest clarification is still worth making: a waterproof plank is not the same as a waterproof installation. A floating floor has seams between every plank and an expansion gap around the perimeter, and water left standing long enough can still travel through those seams to the subfloor. For a shower pan or a space with constant standing water, a sealed tile system with a waterproofing membrane remains the correct choice.
