In a living room, aim for the front legs of the seating to land on the rug at minimum; in a dining room, allow about two feet of rug beyond the table edge so chairs stay on it; in a bedroom, let it extend past the sides and foot of the bed. The fiber is polyester, which is soft and lustrous underfoot and naturally stain-resistant, a comfortable, value-minded choice that feels plush in a bedroom or living room. A medium 9mm pile balances softness and practicality, comfortable underfoot while still easy to vacuum and keep clean. It is densely woven, which helps it hold its shape, resist crushing, and feel substantial underfoot.
