Urban Zebra Metallica Blue Lux Glossy Porcelain Subway Tile 2" x 9"

Urban Zebra Metallica Blue Lux is a glossy porcelain subway tile in 2" x 9", part of the Urban Zebra Metallica range. The colour is Blue Lux. It has a metal, plain and subway look.

It is 9 mm thick and made in Italy. The edges are non-rectified. The spec sheet lists slip resistance R9, water absorption 0.5% or less and shade variation V3. Porcelain is fired dense, so it handles water, spills and daily foot traffic and the tile itself does not need sealing.

Each box holds 36 pieces and covers 5.69 sq ft, so a 30 sq ft kitchen backsplash takes 6 boxes, and that still leaves about 10% extra for cuts and spares.

The spec sheet gives no frost rating, so keep it indoors: no porches, patios or exterior walls. On a floor, keep the glossy face out of showers and away from entry doors where wet boots come in, because it gets slick when wet. At R9 it is not the tile for a shower floor or a wet commercial area. It is pressed, not rectified, so plan on a slightly wider grout joint.
