Porcelain is the workhorse of any tile job. It is fired denser and absorbs far less water than ceramic, which is why it holds up on floors, in showers, and in commercial spaces where a softer tile would wear or take on water. Ceramic is lighter and easier to cut than porcelain, and it absorbs more water, which changes where it belongs. Natural stone is the real thing, marble and stone with the depth and variation that only comes from the ground rather than a printed layer. It is a premium surface with a premium presence, and it asks for more in return: most natural stone needs sealing and a gentler cleaning routine than porcelain, because it is porous and can stain or etch. That is not a reason to avoid it, it is a reason to go in knowing what you are choosing, and we will walk you through the care a specific stone needs before you commit to it.

Mosaic is where a kitchen backsplash or a shower niche stops being a surface and becomes a detail, and the Mango mosaic line is deep. It spans porcelain and ceramic mosaics, a marble series, and shaped formats: basket weave, pebble, diamond and hexagon, subway and strip, herringbone, and artistic mosaics for a genuine feature. Small format tile on a mesh backed sheet lets you run detail that a large tile physically cannot, around a curve, into a niche, as a border or a full feature wall.

The catch with mosaic is that it is more work to install, not less. More grout lines, more edges, more places for a rushed install to show. A backsplash sits at eye level, directly behind the stove, lit from under the cabinets, so every flaw is on display at close range for the life of the kitchen. This is the strongest argument on the page for who holds the trowel.

This is the decision that determines where a tile can go, and most people never get a straight answer on it. Any store can hand you a box of tile. The question worth asking is who sets it, because tile is where a bad install shows forever. A lippage edge you can feel with a bare foot, a grout line that wanders, a large format panel that is a hair out of plane, a backsplash a quarter inch out of level against the upper cabinets. None of that is the tile's fault, and all of it is permanent.

Mango runs a large range across porcelain, ceramic, stone and mosaic, and any tile can vary in size, finish or availability by production run. We work from current stock and the box in front of us, not an archived listing. If you are matching an existing Mango tile, bring a spare piece or a photo of the box label. That is faster and far more reliable than a name, because two runs of the same tile can differ in shade.

Take a full sheet or a full tile home, not a chip. Set it on the actual wall or floor, under the light that room gets, at the hour you are actually in it. A marble look porcelain that reads bright white under showroom lighting can read grey against a north facing bathroom window, and a full piece tells you far more than a sample chip about how the pattern repeats across a wall.
